  • Over the last year the club has become more successful with many new initiatives, such as the new website and the club shop. These have increased the workload of the committee members involved and managing these areas has increased the number of more urgent management decisions needing to be made. This increased workload has suffered from a slow response from committee members on various issues and this is hampering the decision making process. With that in mind the committee have been discussing ideas to try and alleviate the problem and the preferred option is to create two types of committee member duties. Committee member duties: Committee Members may decide, or decide not to… 1. Follow all activity on the member’s website and forum and participate in discussions 2. Follow all activity on the committee website and forum and participate in discussions 3. Participate in any decision making in the running of the club 4. Vote on any proposals when they are made 5. Participate in any fund raising for the club 6. Follow all the rules laid down and agreed by the committee 8. Where practical participate in and attend the AGM Working committee member duties Working Committee Members should... 1. Follow activities on the member’s web site at least twice per week 2. Follow activities on the committee web site at least twice per week 3. Participate in all decision-making processes in the running of the club 4. Vote on all proposals when they are made. Yes, No or Abstain giving reasons 5. Regularly participate in ideas for fund raising for the club 6. Be prepared to procure parts and make items for sale in the club shop 7. Follow all the rules laid down and agreed by the committee 8. Where practical actively participate in and attend the AGM This proposal has been accepted unanimously by the committee (see the Club Management, Committee Decision Log - 2018 29 – Committee Member Duties. The existing committee members have reviewed the increased level of commitment required and eight have agreed to undertake the Working Committee duties with the remainder remaining as committee members, still involved in the running of the club as time and other commitments allow. With eight existing committee members having signed up to undertake the Working Committee duties we are now in position to implement this new approach (see the Club Management, Committee Decision Log - 2018 32 – Working Committee Sign up). The Working Committee can now be established and will be active from midnight on the 2nd July 2018 This decision falls within the powers granted to the Management committee by the club constitution and no change to the constitution is required. From midnight on the 2nd July 2018 it will become the responsibility of the Working Committee members to: 1. Where practical actively participate in and attend the AGM’s If any club member feels that they have particular skills in areas that they feel may be useful to the club and would be prepared to make the necessary time commitments please use the email link to contact the club secretary. membership@oolivesteam.com Implementation of the Working Committee will help the club continue to grow and support the membership.
