Burnham on Sea - 24/25th August 2024

Well, this roadshow was at Burnham-on-sea model railway show, which means it was hosted by committee member Adrian’s local club.

It was a relatively quiet show, however, the conversations had between the roadshow members and the public more than made up for this. With many showing a keen interest in OO Live Steam and how to acquire and operate it. In fact, the OOLS business cards flew, and we were nearly running out towards the end. The shop had some good sales too, with many bottles of water being sold, and some interest in some spares that gentleman required for his OOLS Mallard.

Chris had a fun weekend on the workbench with some repairs over one of Adrian’s Mallards. This caused quite a few issues but with a little settling on the roadshow track with a light load, we tried her with a full rake of wagons, and she worked…

OOLS Summer Meet - 10/11 August 2024

Last weekend was the OO Live Steam Club summer meet up and have been tasked with writing a little report of the event.

Forgiving me for the lack of photos however it wasn’t until I found out I was to be doing a report I started taking some. If you have more or anything else, please feel free to add it in below or just message me with the images/ and I can add them in 😊.

My favourite shot of the whole weekend was the parallel running of these two mallards around Dave’s outer loops. With Nicks 2007 Prince of Wales running on the top DCC loop. It really shows what brilliant marvels these OOLS locos are. The video I think really speak for itself.

Another Nice video of OOLS around Dave's layouts.

Looks like it was a great weekend , sorry I couldn't of made it.

Loving the 'modified' LS loco display - a great collection!

Dave, your layout is most impressive - excellent running lines.

Exeter Model Railway Exhibition

I must apologise in advance for the brevity of this account, as my time at the event was limited to just one day. Nonetheless, it was a it was still a great day with a lot on content for people.

A good strong team was present formed of Chris, Nick, George, Val & Dave P, Adrian, Andrew and myself. This show being local to Adrian it was nice to see him and catch up.

The team arrived the day before to set up. The venue, the Matford centre, which is really a cow shed, required a thorough clear-out just before we could moved in. Thankfully, we were at the back of the show away from the smells.

For me the day began early morning was still dark when and I set off on the first Elizabeth line train from Canary Wharf for Paddington and then onwards to Exeter on GWR.…

The Chatham Show 2024

This event was first started by our previous roadshow manager Charles, and then admirably taken over by Val our current roadshow manager. As well as liaising with the Chatham club personnel she organised food and drinks throughout the weekend, dedication proven by queuing up at the food bar for about 2 hours in total in order to feed the eight roadshow club members present.

The site is the Historic dockyard in Chatham, and is very interesting, three  historic ships, including a submarine, a lifeboat collection, and many historic buildings. You can find out more here    https://thedockyard.co.uk/ it's well worth a visit.

The event was held in one of the massive disused slipway buildings, with the usual traders stalls, and many club layouts. Setup went smoothly on Friday afternoon once we had negotiated the heavy traffic on the M25 around the Dartford bridge. Our stand was quite near the entrance s…
