OO Live Steam in the Netherlands.

Posted on behalf of club member Cees Molenaar

Hello Live steam friends.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to put my lay-out in a workshop see picture and movies attached.

Yesterday I drove my Seagull for the first time, the connection rod between the tender and loco I had to bend in shape, the 3rd run it did fine and I had a run of 40 minutes.

Club Special

I finally got round to running my club special Sir Nigel Gresley. It was a Golden Fleece body, repainted under the club scheme, and put on to a mallard chassis with the wheels changed to black ones. You might notice with the steam visible its a bit cold in the loft railway today.

Headboards - Chimney Approach

Hi all,

Recently I had an idea to create a headboard for an A4.

I wanted to put an a headboard an A4 without using any black tack or glue on it, and to allow the headboard to be easily removable and interchangeable.

I had the idea to use a spare chimney I had as the area to attach the headboard to with a small piece of wire and super glue.

This means the headboard could be swapped between locos and would not be permeant and risk any cosmetic damage to your loco.

At the last roadshow this idea seemed to be liked by most people, and meant that others could use my chimney with the headboard on, and so showed the success of this idea.

Bittern Double Tender Progress

You know how it is, anyone who does modelling always has more than one project on the go at any time, and so it is with me. Anyway this afternoon I decided to get on with Bittern, and Hey Presto! I now have a finished loco, removing the valences was a challenge but now I can get on

to the 'double' bit. I sent off to Fox transfers for the nameplate and transfers. They are beautiful brass nameplates and I attached them to the body with superglue, unfortunately the name is a little shorter than Mallard, the donor loco, so the old plate mounting holes show a bit. As for the transfers, they have come in a yellow colour whereas it should have been gold, hence the colour looks quite bright, anyway lets not worry about such trivia. The water tender only requires painting and the LNER coat of arms…

Hello Everyone. Well another Festive Season is behind us, I hope you all got more of the Good Stuff which can run on railway lines. As for me, I have been incredibly slack in finishing Bittern Double Tender, other necessities have got in the way. But here it is. To recap - donor loco a standard Mallard with the valances cut out, renamed and numbered. The new water tender is a Niu 3d printed kit painted as per the real item as seen in the one:one collection video, Kents railway museum. I must thank Fox Transfers in supplying the name and transfers which has enabled me to properly finish the model and to the Niu company for producing the water tender in the first place
