Mallard Set: Service and minor repair required

I was given this Mallard set as a gift about 20 years ago and, although I steamed and ran it successfully about a dozen times, it has lain in its box for at least the last 15 years. I'm afraid that its not really my thing, and I have recently decided to sell, hopefully to someone who will appreciate it more than me.

However, when I got the loco back on the track to make sure that it was in good condition to sell, probably on eBay, I had difficulty in getting it to steam properly. I contacted Hornby about it - only to be told that they no longer have the expertise, and was referred to the club. I joined the club and, at the suggestion of Chris Oakes, posted a query on the Forum.

After some exchanges with "dampfmaggus" I discovered that the reversing arm had become detached (see photo). Whilst I am now aware that a replacement arm can be obtained at modest cost, my skill set is just not up to the task and, combined with failing eyesight and shakey fingers, I'm not really willing to try a repair. Besides, it has been pointed out that the loco will need to be serviced.

Other than the matters discussed above, the whole set is in pretty near pristine condition.

I now offer it for sale to club members in its current condition at a price of £275 plus £12 delivery via Parcelforce 48.
