For Sale and Wanted

As the events organiser for your club I have had the opportunity to acquire a number of locos for my own collection. I have now reached the point where that appetite has been fully sated!

However I still get the opportunity to buy live steam locos from time to time. So I thought why not buy them, check they’re in good condition, service, repair where necessary and then offer them for sale to club members at a realistic price with any profits going to the club.

With that backdrop in mind I had the opportunity to acquire a very nice Flying Scotsman set.

She was built week 38 2005, was bought as present for the lady’s then husband, has had very little use, the loco is still quite tight. I have checked her over, it’s clear she has not been crashed; both buffer beam steps in place and not glued on!

There is a small amount of paint missing from the cylinders, possibly caused by the front bogie catching, only run on the set tack it came with before I bought her, so the bends are tight, or she may have de-railed, but it’s minor. One other area noticed is one of the cab clear Perspex windows is missing, looking at it under a magnifying glass it appears to never to have had one in the first place as there are no traces of glue, suspect missed off at manufacture.

I’ve had the body off and all looks good, she runs very smoothly, the timing is spot on.

The set is fully complete; the box is in good condition with the odd mark, but again nothing major.

The price is £395, I’ve arrived at this figure by taking prices achieved on e bay and discounting their fees. Remember all proceeds over the price I paid go to the club, so it’s a good cause! Once the sale is complete I will put up a post showing the contribution.

The loco will be at Peterborough this weekend, so if you want to see her come along, also if you can’t do that and want to buy her, act quickly as one of your committee members, we’ll all be together this weekend, could bring her to a place near you making a further saving on carriage. We do come from all parts of the country.
