Hornby parts availability and costs
Well,,, it seems that the supply of Hornby parts is not far from those big red buffers at the end of the bay platform!!!
Our only source of parts has a very diminished supply and what there is, has rocketed in price, no doubt due to supply not able to meet demand. It also dosent help seeing certain eBayers trying to cash in on the situation.
To that effect the OOLS Hornby spares section has had an immediate price revision and its not for the faint hearted.
It is now the time to STOP rebuilding those ‘Heaps from AC Models and to start stripping them for parts that are no longer available, as we are a very long way from reproducing every part needed to replicate a full loco.
The club sourced service items will not be affected, it is just the Hornby items that are affected by this revision.
Many Hornby items are now out of stock and if we have no indication of when we may see some items replaced then they are hidden from view.
Well,,,,that cheered us all up eh!!!!

Agree with Charles and the thought of re-shoring manufacture in UK. BUT the problem is are we the public actually prepared to pay the cost of goods so produced. I have no idea what it would cost to buy live steam manufactured in UK but suspect it would ren well into four figures, especially for what would be small pruction runs.
This question/problem not unique to live steam. Ever bought a pair of English made leather shoes lately?
