A little while back we met a club member Peter Soole who, in due course, was able to assist us in the manufacture of bespoke cast brass A3 chimneys and also cast brass A3/A4 pony trucks by a small manufacturer in Dorset.

We now have these available to offer to club members.

The chimney are an exact copy of the removable original plastic one.

The pony trucks utilise the wheel set from the Hornby truck, holding the set in place with two bolts (supplied) and the plate from the old broken pony truck. If you examine the Hornby ones they are made from Mazak alloy which is fragile and prone to damage, especially the Flying Scotsman ones.

Both items come in a chemically blackened finish which to my opinion looks just right. They can however be painted if you wish with another product mentioned further below.

Also to come by the time Warley is here will be ‘Black Loco Chassis paint’ good to 180 deg C and a ‘Loco Care Pack‘ to help all those budding Live Steam Loco Engineer Apprentices on their way.
