My Christmas Present

Well Christmas 2019 has come and gone and before we get too far into the new year I decided to take my finger out and actually get on with hanging my new present.

Its a limited edition print from an original painting by James Green GRA.

'DUCHESS - CITY OF LEEDS

The scene is set in 1964 at Crewe North, the Duchess engine depicted is coming to the end of her working life. Also shown in this painting are Ivatt 2-6-2 41272 the 7000th loco built at Crewe and 45000 the first Black 5 ever built.

This painting won the George Busby Award for best water based painting at the Guild of Railway Artists 2016 exhibition and I can see why. At the recent Peterborough exhibition each time I went to the loo I walked passed it and found it so evocative that in the end I cracked and 'persuaded' my wife to buy it for me for Christmas.

I have also included this link so you can see how it was created, a fascinating subject in its own right https://www.jamesgreenart.co.uk/work-in-progress/duchess

Now it proudly hangs right above my computer and just to give it a bit of perspective it is hanging above a 27" monitor. The four fluffy blobs represent each of my grand-kids.

So there we have it all my interests in one place! Trains computers and grand-kids . . . not of course, necessarily in that order . . .

Terrific work, and it matches your monitor for width exactly! Like it!
