2022 Livedrive Kit Alert!

This post is directed to anyone who has purchased a standard or a DeLuxe Livedrive Kit since Xmas 2021 up to and including August 2022.

It has come to the attention of the shop manager that the last batch of Livedrive kits supplied to us in December 2021 may, or may not have the wrong rated gold resistor included with the kit. They all look very much the same, just the writing on the top gives us the clues here.

It seems that the batch supply of 15 watt gold resistors were mistakenly supplied in 2 different ohm ratings. One is correct and will work perfectly as designed and one wont work at all!

At this point I cant say which kits are affected by this anomaly but it is no more than 15 in total.

If you have not built your kit yet, great! you can check the resistor supplied. If you have built your kit can you please open the lid to check the numbers on the resistor.

The correct resistor will have the text ‘HS15 2R7 J’ on the resistor and will work as intended.

The incorrect resistor will have the text ‘HS15 68R J’ on the resistor and wont work at all.

If you have the former, you need not worry as this is the correct one, if you have the latter, then please let me know at oolivesteamshop@btinternet.com so i can send out a replacement resistor asap. We have to get them ordered in but I will need to know how many to obtain.

I have identified all but one purchaser and will send an email to alert you directly.

The one purchaser i have no email address for is Mr Tony Morris who bought a standard kit at the Ally Pally show in March 2022. If you are reading this Tony, then please get in touch so we can correct your kit.

The picture below is kindly supplied by John Cooper from Australia who identified this particular issue and for which I owe many thanks. I have doctored the pic to help identify the rogue resistor and the good one.

Any further queries then please get in touch.

Hello Nick. I have only just caught sight of this and so thought I had better check out my Live Drive Kit although I bought some time ago and have yet to get around to building it. All checked OK, but thanks for the "heads up" on this possible unintended fault.
