Making a start.
I am now the proud owner of a FS set that I purchased through the club. I am making a start and getting to grips with what I will need to get operational. Although I say "making a start", what I really mean is making plans for what I will need and am seeking views/guidance that I am on the right track, no pun intended.
I am planning to construct a modular baseboard that will accommodate 4th radius bends. Each module will comprise of an inverted plywood "box" with suitable cross braces fitted with alignment dowels and catches. 1st. question; the "boxes could easily sound like a drum. So, what track underlay is best, is the foam stuff ok?
2nd. question; Do I assume the the bus wiring forms a ring main around the oval, rather like that of a household ring main?
3rd. point; I do understand the importance of running the engine on a rolling road in order to run it in and more importantly gain operational understanding before committing the loco to the track. To that end I am planing to build a rolling road from aluminium sections and small ball races that includes a piece to track to both support and power the tender. Again any comments would be most welcome.

Hi,
Replacement pony truck along with maintenance tool set & special tool set arrived today. Pony truck now replaced. Really pleased with tool sets, nice to have a dedicated set of tools in their own boxes that complements the Loco so well. Would recommend that any other 'newbie' also obtains a set of tools as I feel they will all add to experience of enjoying these splendid locos.
