An improved product now available in the shop!

For a couple of years we have promoted the use of a very good British made anti friction product known as Activ8 to enhance the running qualities of our locomotives. (www.activ8lubricants.com)

This is available as a 5% mix ratio in the 460w live steam oil known in the shop as Lubric-8.

It has also been sold ‘straight’ as a 20ml Loco service lube.

This service lube product has been much improved by the addition of a top quality synthetic light machine oil to help distribute and enhance the immediate lubrication qualities of the oil to all those finer reaches of our locos. It has better cling and pressure qualities than Acive8 alone.

This enhanced product will be known as Super-8 Maintenance Lube and will replace the former product. It has a rather distinguishing pink colour due to the addition of the machine oil. The cost will remain the same at £6 per 20ml bottle.

Unfortunately it is all to common on the F/S model. The slightest finger and thumb pressure will break the port side detail.

I have fixed it with a good thick superglue with a secret ingredient. That is until now!

I use a product called Rocket Powder by Deluxe materials. It is a form of very fine free flowing granules. After the initial re attachment of the broken part, the rocket powder is liberally applied to the still wet superglue on the inside of the truck. This forms a fillet of immense strength on the inside of the truck to reinforce the weak glue joint. When dry, one applies a good coat of heat resistant paint to the entire truck and ‘et voila’! A repaired and usable unit.
