Flying Scotsman live steam

My live steam scotsman will run even when the light in the cab is red. It takes two clicks once the red light is on to get the wheels to fully stop. loco was purchased on eBay saying brand new andI believe it to be as tissue wasn’t touched or ripped and oil is still sealed. Any one else have a similar issue or the same one seems too blow off more than my mallard too TIA

The lights are just a guide. If you understand what's happening and it's consistent I'd let sleeping dogs lie.

But you dont mention green light. In theory, red is valve closed, green is valve open and the point where red changes to green is the point where the valve is "just starting to open". It's important to know the point where the valve is "just starting to open" then 5 flicks (can vary) from that point is the point when the loco satrts to move.

If it seems to blow off more than you Mallard make sure it's set to simmer (one click from "off"). You should find that once it's running at a decent speed with a good load it will be several seconds - 10 or more - between blow offs. It's not a big problem if not umless you get a big loss of power when it blows off.

What you are describing is typical of the variety of variabilities between locos, just like the real thing.
