Welcome to the club Newbie 😊

I hope some of our southern members get on board and make contact.

Good luck

Hello from Texas!

Good afternoon, or good morning when this post will be first seen,

I figured I would formally introduce myself to you all. My name is Camryn and I was able to purchase one the club's refurbished Mallard sets to be added to my local club's collection of model trains. We are currently hosting our annual summer show and have the model on running display for the public to enjoy. The model is being well taken care of and a video of it operating on my YouTube channel. (TrainMaster04)

Good bye for now as I have to go purchase some spare parts for the loco.

I would like to introduce myself

Hello,

my name is Manfred Baacke, I live in the beautiful German city of Dresden, I am 75 years old and have been a railroad fan since I was 4 years old.

The foundation stone was laid by my grandfather, who was a locomotive fitter at the Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk Dresden-Altstadt, now the Dresden Railway Museum on Zwickauer Straße.

I was often allowed to pick him up from work and sometimes even take part in a test run on a repaired steam locomotive.

I was also able to satisfy my curiosity in the associated lever signal box.

I got my first electric train at the age of 6 in 1955, a starter set from PIKO in H0 scale. It contained a BR52 freight locomotive, three open freight wagons, a track circuit and a transformer. My mother had won a small lottery prize, from which she was able to put this set under…

Hi Manfred, welcome to the club, I am sure you'll enjoy running your Mallard.

The clubs kit for the Live Drive control extension, is a definite benefit in helping to control these locomotives - I would highly recommend it if you have th chance to get one.

best regards

Joe

Hello from Holly, MICHIGAN, USA

Thank you for accepting us into the club. Very excited to see this Live Steam group, we bought our first Mallard Live steam while vacationing in the UK in approximately 2003. Read about it in a Hornsby catalog, and ordered one from Harrods to be delivered to our home when we returned. When available, I purchased the Flying Scotsman a few years later. I have just pulled them out after several years being stored, and have had a lot of enjoyment getting used to running them again. I have been reading through many of the suggestions on oiling the engine, and proper distilled water from other members, and look forward to getting advice from more experienced users. Currently trying to locate a good source for the proper distilled water here in the USA, since I am now running low on my original Hornsby stock.

Thanks Again,

Wayne
