Manchester MRX Museum of Transport May 19th and 20th
This was our second time at Manchester, Peter and Wayne of LYDCC made us most welcome, along with the rest of their team. They have a fantastic location as you will see from the photos below, it really is great to be amongst the various types of public road transport vehicles over the decades. Seeing the old trolley buses reminded me very much of my childhood.
There were six of us operating the stand and technical help desk, we were kept busy all weekend and had a great position for the layout at the entrance to the exhibition.
We had a new iteration of a 00 live steam loco under test, Walter K Whigham in expermintel purple. Some of you may know that after nationalisation in 1948 British Railways wanted a new livery for all express locos across all regions. One colour tried but not adopted was expermintel purple, four A'4s ran in this livery from 1948 for up to three years. They were Walter K Whigham, Merlin, Kingfisher and Woodcock. Your committee thought it a good idea to offer a limited number of these A4 locos, We have taken a donor loco, it could be a Dwight D Eisenhower or Golden Fleece, one needs a body without valances and black wheels. We then sent the loco and tender body to renowned railway modeller Warren Haywood, he has a lot of experience in painting live steam locos. The result is very impressive, we carried out thorough testing over the weekend and noticed no deteriation in the paint finish, the loco had nine full steamings.
The plan is to offer a limited number of these locos up to a maximum of fifty, all in a quality presentation box and limited edition certificate, we think this could add significant value over time.
You will be able to provide your own donor loco or if preffered we will source a suitable donor loco for you.
More details such as price and availability to follow, in the meantime comments and feedback would be much appreciated.

Hi Alex, no forgiveness needed, I very much enjoy F1, so getting the chance to talk to someone involved in it is a real pleasure.
Watch the website for more info on the purple A4's and look fiorward to seeing you again at Soar Valley or Warley, you would also be very welcome at the Chatteris weekend.
