Planning making an 009 live steam loco.
I'm interested in making something similar to one of the late Brian Caton's 009 meths fired and superheated 009 locos. I've looked at all the info available about them on the Internet, but need more. The tubing on the loco's boiler is a bit of a mystery to me, as is the seeming 'lower boiler' at the front. Plus other things, such as the design of the safety valve. I'm a rank amateur where model engineering is concerned (I've managed to make my own M0.4 brass spur and worm gears so far), and need advice. Can anyone help? PS I'm English, live in China, so am a long way away. It would be a retirement project for me- I'm not a Chinese company in disguise, seeking to make thousands of cloned copies :^)

Thanks, Ross- very helpful info about the safety valve, which makes a lot of sense, given that the hole is drilled radially.
I have a lot to learn (or relearn- the last silver soldering I did was at Grammar school about 58 years ago!).
