Slide Switches
Hi all, I'm looking to source about a dozen slide switches like those used on the club exhibition layout for switching points and current simultaneously. Can't find anything with sufficient current rating and long switch lever. Any help much appreciated. Rgds, Dave Lyon

The slide switches were made from two sizes of Albion Alloys Square Brass Rod, one sliding inside the other,
These were superglued (using strengthening powders) to bits of ply with the larger one acting as a carrier for the smaller operating rod. The above board operating arm was made from round brass rod.
The frog switching is done via micro switches capable of handling 12 amps. The ones we used were Maplin standard micro switches but there are many alternative suppliers. They have three contacts, a feed and two outputs depending on whether the switch is on or off. The switch operating button is spring loaded.
The rods are mounted so that the operating rod makes contact in one direction and then releases when moved in the other direction. The friction in the mechanism is sufficient to hold the switch on or off.
Hope this helps
