Recognition.
Having been to quite a few model railway exhibitions in the past and attending the Bristol (Thornbury) one last weekend, I had a long chat with one of the members of OOLS. But I could not remember his name. No, it wasn't Adrian, or Trig or Chris. Among other things, we discussed the idea of introducing a small, fair, annual membership fee to cover, if only in a small way, some of the costs of "running the show". This would, of course, be a committee decision, but one I think ought to be discussed.
I also had 'to chat' with Chris, although he was well ensconced in carry out repairs, if only to ask if he had his hammer with him. Which he did - of course!!
I recognised some faces on the stand, but not knowing names a badge would help. Even a "Rogues Gallery" here on the website could be considered too.
Would it not be a good idea for all the attending members to have a name badge when active on the stand to aid communications and make it just that little bit more personal? Especially in the present climate of wearing face masks?
By the way, I seem to remember a while ago we members were asked if we would be interested in having a lapel badge for all members. Did this die of natural causes?
A very good show at Thornbury and very well attended on Saturday too!! Well done team OOLS.
Long live model railways and OOLS too.āŗļø
