Introducing myself

Hello, many thanks Admin for accepting my Signing up, I have just got the Mallard live steam set with rolling road too, paid a fairly hefty price from ebay but am happy with the purchase, I ran it up today, the loco was a bit sticky going forwards, the wheels would rotate and appear to jam and need a bit of leverage to get going again, but after runnig the loco in reverse for a while everything seemed to loosen up and it now runs fine in both directions, It took a few goes to get used to the control, and it still tends to rush of from a stand still.

Welcome to the club Carl.

If the loco has never been run ,then it will take some hours of running before it will be at it's best. This is why the club recommends that were possible locos should be run in on a rolling road first. This gets over the problem of controlling a stiff loco on a possibly complicated layout. The other tips are to never run the loco without coaches to give it a load to pull against and if it is reluctant to start away from rest to give it a slight push.

Enjoy
