Newbie with a seized Scotsman
Hi all, I'm Simon and I'm new here. Loving the club so far. I've been enjoying the wealth of information and the video guides.
I just bought a Flying Scotsman set on eBay, but it's seized up and covered in fluff (and has a slightly bent valve gear rod). I've been on a bit of a spending spree on the club shop in preparation for a major service; I've bought piston seals, oil and a the toolset and cylinder clamp.
I plan to open up the pistons and change the seals there, give it a good clean and oil, and straighten the valve gear rod. Is there anything else I should check before attempting to steam her?

All running now. It was the drive mech to the rotary valve that had gummed up. No need to take cylinders apart after all.
