Introduce Yourself

Hi to you all. Just joined club in order gain a better understanding of Hornby Live Steam which I am very intrigued with. Last Hornby I had was a 3 rail set back in the 60's!

Got back into modelling in recent years and currently making working static steam engines from casting kits using my small lathe and mill M/c etc. Find it great fun raising steam and running them, but there are nevertheless static. My background is in engineering, although now retired.

It appears there are several locos and complete sets on eBay. The sellers often claim the sets are "never used" or "little used". Clearly since production has now ceased there can only be a finite number of sets and locos out there, can they all fall into this category?

As I say, need to gain a better understanding before taking the plunge, hence joined the club and staring to explore an excellent knowledge base,
