Introduce Yourself

Hi everyone. I am Rein (Ryan) from The Netherlands. I live in the beautiful north part of the country, called Frylân.

Since I have reached the autumn of my life (agewise....) , I finally have the time and the money to do what I have dreamed of since I was a child. Steam engines and steam trains.

I managed to buy a used Märklin compound steam engine, a brand new 00 Mallard starting set and also a brand new Flying Scotsman with double tender. Unfortunately the Mallard did not run. When I inspected the train, it seemed that the original grease had turned solid. Nothing moved. So I had to turn it into peaces for cleaning and lubrication.

I have been an engineer all of my life, so i was not afraid of doing that. Hoever, it seems slightly more complicated than I expected.

Now I am strugling with the timing. So when I looked on the internet i discovered your beautiful site. I am excited to take a look at the instruction video's and get my Mallard to run. I will let you know when it does.
