Hello all!
Hi everyone. I’ve just joined and am about to pick up a Mallard kit. This is all new to me, although my father has a decent OO setup, I’ve just been mesmerised and fascinated by the miniature marvel of the steam hornby’s. A bit of late night classified searching I stumbled across a lightly-used kit and bit the bullet.
I’m looking forward to getting to know the habits and quirks of this system. As a design engineer by training (although currently a head gardener), I’m happy tinkering, but as a total train and steam novice, will need all the help I can get!
Any tips on what I should do to check over my new purchase to make sure it’s safe, working correctly etc? I’m planning on getting a rolling road and yes, will be using distilled water!
