A quick hello!

Hi, new to Live Steam and the 00LS club... always loved hornby stuff as a kid (and adult!) and have been after a ’Live Steam’ model for a while now... well the chance arose and I’ve managed to purchase a brand new & unused Mallard set! Have done a lot of reading across the website prior to purchasing but I’m sure I’ll be posting for help at some point!

Here’s the set - seems a shame not to keep her new and pristine!

Ollie :-)

Like anything in life from new cars to Hornby Live Steam sets once you fire it up and run it the value drops.

That said, this Mallard set was Hornby's most numerous live steam product and hasn't seen the value increase beyond what they were originally sold at so you wont lose significantly by running it and if you follow our running advice you wont suffer the fate of many and crash it, maybe damage it and certainly lose confidence and not enjoy the experience.

Go to the General Discussion on this forum and look for "Important Errata to Manual" on page 2.

Copy paste it into a word proceesing programme, print it out and stick the paragraphs over the errant ones in the book.

Fire it up and start enjoying.

I do recommend you buy the DVD (I declare a commercial interest - my company made it) and it will show you in detail how to get stared and run it. It should have the errata sheet on a sticky label in the DVD that precisely fits the Hornby manual pages but check with the shop manager first - their stock might not have the sheet in it. You can buy it from my company PlanesTV via ebay and it will have the errata sheet.

Search ebay for

MUST HAVE Hornby Live Steam Instruction DVD with errata stickers

Welcome Ollie, good luck and keep us posted how you get on.
