Trying to build a Hornby live steam outdoor promotional railway for added interest on a caravan park site in central Scotland.
last year I decided to build a small certificated location caravan park in association with the caravan and motorhome club.
This has been well supported and has been a great success.
I have utilised various structures within the grounds of a decommissioned plant nursery making a CL that is far more interesting than an empty field which one usually finds on such sites.
I want to be different not boring.
I now want to build a Hornby live steam outdoor layout which would be run to meet requests by members of the caravan and motorhome club. I have bought a Mallard and Scotsman from eBay not knowing about your wonderful club.
Unfortunately I have made lots of mistakes
with trying to follow the guidelines provided and now fear all is lost!
I overfilled the Mallard with oil and contaminated the wiper board on steam up.
The Scotsman runs still but will not reach full operating pressure with a steam leak under the cab.
I will keep trying but I’m feeling a bit depressed and wonder if I will ever get out the mess.
