Thank you for accepting my request to join your membership. My Hornby Live Steam adventure began at yesterdays car boot sale of all places.
I have managed to pick up a complete and seldom used Mallard set. It even came with 3/4 of the original bottle of Hornby water. Looking at eBay I don't think I have over paid at £175.
I am not new to live steam as such as I have collected steam toys since I was about 13 and now have some larger scale models such as 2" Traction engines and 5" and 31/2" Locomotives.
I look forward to reading the forum and setting out and having a go with my Mallard.
I've already been looking at other locomotives and I am quite surprised how expensive they still are! I can remember looking in the Argos catalogue in awe as a child!

Thank you all. I've not yet run my Mallard... I am hoping to come along in October to the Weymouth event and maybe seek some hand holding on my first run! However, I am now looking at other locos on ebay! Doh!
