Remote Controller

While the site was down one of the projects I decided to apply myself to was the building of one of the OO Live Steam shop supplied remote control box. I have only so far run a loco on the rolling road as I am still building the layout to run them but this combined with my experience gained at the summer open day when I had a go on the club layout convinced me that this device is really a wonderful enhancement to the way in which we can control live steam locos.

The build was not complex but care did need to be taken, especially when soldering wires to the relays but a steady hand and a good quality soldering iron made it fairly straightforward. I purchased the kit with the holes pre-drilled to make assembly as easy as possible so the whole thing went together in a couple of hours. The Mallard on the rolling road is a completely different engine now and running it on a track will now be infinately more controllable. The box and the live steam control boxes are now in place on the layout control panel and all looking very neat.

I would highly recommend this device to anyone using Hornby live steam as it really is a totally different experience.

Thanks for the feedback bunkerbarge,, the unit has certainly helped many to overcome the initial conrtol woes associated with the original control methods.
