Motor rotor jammed

Hi all,

I recently bought the Golden Fleece on eBay that was as new but returned buy original purchaser back in the day with an issue (Not sure why I bought it, I don’t actually like the livery, but I guess I’m always up for a challenge!)

On inspection it’s issue is the motor catching the magnet. Not debris on the magnet, but the ‘clean’ magnet itself. The rotor isn’t perfectly centred, of the 3 laminate core wings, one clears, one drags slightly and one jams, barely forceable past. The magnet that is catching (lower, by my thumb in the photo) looks to be slightly lifted at the end that is catching but seems stuck, presumably glued in place.

Has anyone seen this before?

Assuming the rotor cannot be removed and reassembled, I’m guessing my best option is to dremel the rotor core wings until clear, and then carefully remove the filings from the magnet, and paint the ground patch to avoid rust?

Alternatively ungluing the magnet could work if anyone knows suitable solvent? (2nd choice as I doubt this can be done chemically and heat would demagnetise)

Or maybe modifying the motor frame to bend it away slightly? (3rd choice as I’m unlikely to keep the two bearings aligned)

Any other ways?

Suggestions welcome.

This is a disc that fits in the space but less area so will be weaker. Super high temp neodymium though so good for 150degC https://www.first4magnets.com/circular-disc-rod-c34/10mm-dia-x-1-5mm-thick-n45sh-neodymium-magnet-1kg-pull-p3633#ps_0_3787|ps_1_2728

I think I’ll get both types and see what works. For reference my slightly corroded one is 13.05x9.8x1.58mm
