Signals from Loco
I'd be grateful if someone would clarify this for me.
Do the live steam locos send any signals back to the controller or just receive current and operate.?

No theyâre not digital in any way. They donât receive any âsignalsâ as such either. When the lever is operated and the voltage is momentarily lowered , then the regulator moves either to open or close depending on the direction of operation. The steam then does all the pulling work!
These are analogue in operation, Only responding to voltage fluctuation and open circuits due to running out of water or closed circuits due shorting of the current for whatever reason.
