Running in
I have a Mallard which is almost new and reportedly had only been run 5 or 6 times Before I got it. It has obviously been in storage for a while as the oil was a bit gummy. I have finally got it to run albeit somewhat jerkily. It has now been steamed 10 times on a rolling road. How many more tankfuls am I likely to need to run in before it runs smoothly and reliably? Grateful for any advice please?
oh as a side issue (pun intended), I notice that when running forwards, steam seems to be coming from somewhere below the near side adjacent to the cylinder as well as out of the chimney. Do I have a problem or am I worrying about nothing?
Thank you

Good news so far Neil. Keep us posted.
I do notice on your photos what appears to be a lot of spilled oil coating various surfaces. The advice in the Hornby manual to use 0.5ml of oil has been shown to be over-filling. Use just ONE drop of oil but add it on every run.
