Power!
So this happened...power from tender to pcb burnt. I had a new A4 pcb and replaced, took another tender to engine power lead to make sure it worked. Of course, I ordered one from here. I assume maybe moisture caused the short?
Another note, I am soo happy to have a Hornby Live Steam! They are absolutely the best!

I agree with the actions of awinn6 in wiring direct to the board. This plug and socket carries the super-heater current of about 3.5 amps on full power. Any slight resistance in the connection will overheat the socket, burn out the socket or de-solder it from the board. I have never found a plug and socket combo that is rated higher than 2 amps suitable for the space available.
