Controller Powers Off on Track Only
Hi folks, I have just acquired a Mallard LS. (I did follow the two useful external and internal inspection videos.) The loco runs really great (forwards and backwards) on the rolling road.
However, when I try to run it on the track, it goes round the track, sometimes once, sometimes twice. Then all the lights on the controller goes out - no audible alarm unlike the time the loco ran out of water.
The problem seems to happen every time the loco is near the point where power is applied to the track. That part of the track has the id of R8210 and since it came in the box I assumed it is ok with LS.
The plastic covers above and below the connectors came off. I noticed that there is a component wired between the two connectors, see photos. Would someone please enlighten me what that is.
Please any ideas to the problem I am having?
Many thanks Jonathan

Thanks vey much for your comments. I do think it was bad connections. Relaying of the track seems to cure the problem.
