Track clarification
I saw on another newbies post's reply that it's possible to use regular OO track eg Peco or other for the Hornby live steamers, but that contrasts with one of the first videos I watched that said the locos need a special high voltage track . Which is correct and if the later are there any suppliers of that sort of track still?

I think you must have misinterpreted what you read.
All available Peco or Hornby track is suitable for live steam but the power applied by the controller is higher than the 12v.of standard model operation.
Live steam runs on 15-17v dc @6 amps.
The only pre-requisite for reliable running is that you add droppers to all sections of track and run a power bus under the track with the droppers attached to the bus.
The fishplate joiners are not to be relied on for reliability due to the amp draw on the loco.
