Soldering Advice
A model bought from the well known auction website needs some TLC to get into good working order.
I need to remove the superheater soldered joint on the PCB board, however I do not have any soldering experience, this is the joint I need to remove and redo:

I'm planning to do a bit of practise on something before I start, maybe to a bit of scrap metal if I get chance!
Is there anything I need to be careful of in this area before I try de/re-soldering?
I'm hoping after doing a bit of practise I'll then be ready for soldering a bus wiring setup for my baseboard once that's complete.
Many thanks,
Alex

Hi Chris,
Thank you for the advice! Prolonged contact with the solder was something I didn’t think about so thanks for mentioning it.
One of the superheater wires has come away from the solder, I didn’t notice this when I first tested the loco so I am amazed that it worked at all! Plus despite the original auction description being ‘in good working order and condition’ the sheath over the wires at the superheater end is frayed and coming away from the wire.
I’ve got a spare superheater so thought it was a good time to replace it. Having said that I may just redo the solder joint and see how it goes to avoid using the spare.
