A3 timing wheel
At MRX yesterday had an incident while timing an A3 running very unevenly. after a number of adjustments, the lug holding the locking screw snapped off.... luckily the adjusting screw was still partialy intact.
it would appear that prior to starting the adjustment, the screw was wound completely out.
as a consequence, the head of the adjustment screw was striking the rear driving wheel.
combined with heat and oil, the plastic was weakened and subsequently fractured.
something to keep in mind when adjusting the timing from scratch or if the meshing of bevel gears have changed and the timing screw wound out to compensate.
