I’m unable to set my locomotive in reverse
I recently acquired a used live steam mallard runs nicely but when I go through the motions to set it to reverse it just goes forward any idea as to why this happens and how to fix it

My main worry in answering your query was that you may have been confused by the instruction book which didn't get translated very well and led many to at best confusion and worst to abandoning it completely.
You're clearly a survivor with delights to come.
