Ready to jump off the Forth road bridge! I
I just cannot get to grips with running my newly serviced A4 Mallard. On a rolling road,with direct tender lead fitted,I start with a full head of steam and moving at a good speed I only get around 10 minutes running with the loco slowing down constantly to a stop.
Even on the plus setting with safety valve blowing I cannot get moving again. Any ideas what is going wrong?

It now sounds like the new seals are expanding. Check the gland nuts. They may be too tight hindering the path of the pistons. They need to be done up to a stop and then backed off 1/4-1/2 turn.
