Heat shielding?

Is there any possible thing I could wrap the steam components of an A4 in to add some minor level of heat shielding? The magnets in the servo motor on my original A4 had totally disintegrated by the time I bought it, and the only contributing factor I can think of that would have caused this would be the extreme heat and the close proximity of the servo motor to the steam pipe. considering my A4 is one of the original Live Steal Mallards, I'm looking for a reversible option as I'm trying to keep the engine as original as possible.

Also, as for the motor, I managed to find a matching unit of the same model, albeit configured for a different engine, so I transplanted the housing with the new magnets onto the original and saved it, effectively overcoming my only major hurtle! :D

Thank you for the warning, that is definitely a question that's been on my mind lately.
