A3 Valve/Regulator Drive problem

Dear everybody,

I'm the owner of A3 Flying Scotsman leave steam (used) and faced the following issue. The Regulator Drive Rod has been somehow broken and "fixed" by soldering (see pictures).

Now the regulator seems working, servo and gears rotating, even the drive rod moving. But the steam valve not working, no steam flow and, of course, no train movement. Control LEDs at certain switch from green to red, then both light at the same time, which I also think is abnormal.

I would be grateful for any ideas on how to fix this.

Probably the right way is to buy the new Regulator Drive Rod, which is available from the shop, and replace the broken one.

But I don't know, how to disassembe the train to have access to drive rod and valve. Are there any instructions available?

Thank you in advance, Dmitry

I recommend that you try running the loco on air. (if required an adaptor is available from the OOLS section of the shop).

With the regulator fully open loosen the four screws on the superheater and see if there is a good flow of air. If there is then remove the front rotary valve cover and check for a good flow of air from the inlet hole.

You should find enough info the help partially dissemble the loco in the following links
