Number of clicks to get moving
When I set my Mallard up on a dedicated piece of track with the driving wheels raised, it takes about 10 clicks of the controller to get the wheels moving forward however when I try it out on my track layout, it takes nearer 20 to get going. Is this normal?

It will also depend on what the position the steam valve is at, and how big a click/flick you do, (everyone is different)š. I tend to sound the whistle first, it helps to get rid of any "wet" steam.
