I’m completely new to live steam, only getting the Mallard set back in December, and fortunately I managed to find one completely sealed and never used.
I have ran Mallard on the rolling road for around 4 hours plus since then, and I tried it on my main layout for the first time today. The locomotive was trying to go into gear but wouldn’t go and the whistle kept staying on and wouldn’t go off.
So I let the locomotive cool down and went back to the rolling road and now it won’t work on there either.
What might the issue be. As I’ve tried doing some research but can’t find anything.

The tutorials have been a great help, as there’s only so much you can learn from the manual book you get with the set.
I’m definitely hooked and once I’ve learnt a lot more I’ll definitely be looking into getting another one.
