Electrical connection

Hey guys.

I’m getting round to servicing my newly acquired mallard.

I’ve just cleaned the the contacts on the tender and discovered the wheels are melted at the insulators and warped. I’m going to place an order. I’ve now moved onto the loco…

One of the cables has snapped at the solder joint for the PCB. My question is, I see the club sells the replacement cable with the plug but mine are hard soldered to the board perhaps because it’s an earlier model?

Is the plug compatable with my PCB if I just de solder the cables?

Thanks!

The tender wheels with the black axle were fitted to the earlier loco's. They were prone to melting and were replaced with a more heat resistant material.

The cable, plug and socket you see in the club shop are compatable. Just solder the socket onto the PCB. This is original design so someone has removed the socket from the PCB, probably because it overheated and burnt.

But you can simply solder the cable back onto the board if you want.

Hope this helps.
