adding resistor to regulator motor?
is it possible to add a resistor to on of the cables going to the regulator motor in order to reduce the voltage so that it doesnt move so far which each flick?

I cant see why a resistor would help do that.
Live Drive effectively does exactly what you are asking to do, advance the motor a little less than default. If a resistor would do the job I think cleverer people than you and me would have done it already.
