OOLS Club Website Modifications

The WiX website building software used to create and maintain the OOLS Club website is constantly being developed to provide new and improved features but one limitation that may in the future affect the site is that all WiX sites are restricted to a maximum of 100 pages.

However there are now two types of page that can be used to produce a WiX website. These are Static and Dynamic

• Static pages are displayed to members exactly as they are stored

• Dynamic pages create multiple live site pages while only using a single page in your Editor by using a template one page layout that can be used over and over again, each time displaying a different item, content or image stored in a database collection.

So a single dynamic (template) page can be used to generate hundreds of pages without breaking the overall 100 page site limit.

At this time the OOLS site runs to 73 pages the majority of which are static. The one area currently taking advantage of the Dynamic page capability is the 'Shop".

Although rebuilding the content using dynamic pages will not greatly reduce the overall number of pages used to generate the site there are a number of other benefits that will make the effort worthwhile. These include:

• Dynamic pages allow easy creation of an unlimited number of pages

• Easier to create clean and consistent page design

• Improved look, feel, and functionality of the site.

• Easy add or update page content whilst maintaining both standards and appearance.

• Much greater control of how the pages will appear when viewed on a mobile phone

The revamped site 'Home Page' is the starting point and makes good use of some of the new capabilities. The changes are being made in the background and should have no detrimental impact on members visiting the site. Initially many pages will continue to look the same, but throughout July, as the work progresses, more and more changes will become noticeable.
