2018 Transport Box Modifications
So when the The Roadshow layout was originally build consideration was given as to how it would be stored and transported. The solution was to create suitable transport boxes, consisting of one box holding 4 x 4 foot (old money) straight sections and two boxes each holding 4 x 3 foot (approx.) curved sections.

This is great at shows as we have plenty of people to hump them around, but as the layout is supposed to live in my garage this does throw up an issue not considered in the original design concept . . . I am not getting any younger and the boxes are not getting any lighter! 😮
As a result the layout actually spends a lot of time in the back of my car, making for a very expensive storage solution so the committee agreed it was time to come up with a solution. Simple . . cut the boxes in half lengthways reducing the weight and more importantly the width so my poor old arms can actually reach the handles and I can move them without the risk of putting my back out . . . . . at least for a few more years 😉
So our resident 'wood' technician ('chippie' in old money) Nick was summoned and arrived last weekend to do the job. However, it turned out to be a bit more involved than we first thought, so here is the tale of how it was done.

Very Smart 👍
