Running in the US
Hello,
I was wondering if it was at all possible to run the live steam trains on the 120V mains in the US? I know Hornby at one point made a US transformer, but these days one must take what one can get. I read online that there is a switch inside the transformer that can be set to 120V, is this true?
On an unrelated note, does the steam oil put in the engine lubricate the wheels and connecting rods? Should these be lubricated separately?
Thank you.

Yes it is possible to set the transformer to 115v for use in US. The Hornby Transformer Voltage Settings document explaining how is located in the 'Knowledge Base, Members Projects, Control & Electronics page'.
If the loco has not been used for a while it is advisable to lubricate all the driving wheels, all the rod joints and the driving wheel axles (3 holes in the plastic base under the chassis).
Despite what you may read in the Hornby manuals based on extensive experience the club recommend a teardrop of oil every run.
