problem with get the locomotive to move.

I have just bought a mallard still boxed still wrapped and looks brand new and never used. I have followed the manual and looked on youtube. I can get the steam up but the light won't change to green, the locomotive do's show signs that it wants to go but as I have said the light won't go green and the boiler then runs out of water, I am now at a complete loss. can any one help. thanks Allan Bradshaw.

G'day, Allan,

None of the oil in several bottles I have has become thicker over time. I am still using a bottle of oil which came with my first A4, without any viscosity issues.

Once "out of the bottle", many oils contain additives which react with atmospheric oxygen and form gums. This occurs in fuels, as well as lubricants - which is why one should always empty the carburettors of 2-stroke mowers after cutting one's grass. This also helps explain why unused devices, lubricated at the factory, can seize up while sitting on the shelf, unused.

I hope these comments are of some help.

Regards,

Rob
