My Loco does not respond to the Hornby Controller Regulator
This is a major issued at present and no one in the Club seems to have an answer. Loose gear set A and B were considered they may be the problem but after replacing two locos with the new cast brass top unit there was no improvement in fact my Golden Fleece was worse. Fitting the new brass top clamp units is an excellent improvement as is does stop the brass bearing cases moving about which will cause issues later on.
I therefore though I had better investigated and I believe I have solved the problem as the loco now performs with total perfect response to the controllers both live drive and Hornby. Live Drive is now totally repeatable.
With Live Drive there is a problem with the switching solid state device switching at lower voltages as it gets hot causing issues with the live drive but this should never cause issues with the Hornby ( continued on next post as run out of letters)

When we have a control malfunction it is very important to know whether the relay is operating or not. If the relay is not operating fault is electrical if it is operating the problem is with the motor or mechanical. I am thinking of fitting a bulb or suitable led across the motor terminals with the bulb in the cab to monitor the relay. This would give this vital information.
