Advice on first run for 5-6 years
Hi, I am planning on running my two Live Steamers over the weekend on a rolling road.
Can anyone recommend any tips before I try steaming them? They both last ran about 5-6 years ago, may have been more. But this would have been only the 2nd or 3rd steaming of the Mallard since new at Christmas 2003. It is the Silver Link's second run I think.
I still have the original Hornby supplied water, will this still be ok to use? I'm thinking oiling round the loco is a good idea beforehand, but I don't know where or with what kind of oil!
Any advice or links to information is greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to get them running before the Manchester Roadshow next month.

Just another thought . . the club also sell a water tester so you could check the quality of your own water
