Draw bar
The draw bar on my mallard bent ! I have removed the bar off seagull.
Did horby modify the bar the mallard was built 01 04 the seagull on 45 04

Yes they did but the club have no information on the date the change occured.
One possible reason could be to provide a little more flexibility in the link. Picking up the loco in the wrong way can bend the original and this can result in the downward pressure on the rear wheels (with the traction tyres) to be reduced causing the wheels to slip under load.
However this is just an educated guess and there may well have been some other reason for it.
